Plymouth College Preparatory School pupil, Hazel Vernon, 11, has won the Plymouth Open U12 singles title. Hazel beat a higher-ranked Devon County player 6-0, 6-1 in the final.
Hazel also made the final of the U14 competition, putting out the 14-year-old no.1 seed in the semi-final.
The talented tennis player has been training with TDA Tennis at both the Virgin Active Devonshire in Plymouth and the Dragon Centre in Bodmin. Hazel's coach, Adrian Williams, said:
"Hazel deserves this tremendous win after the hours of hard work she puts in every week on the court."
Hazel has just been offered a place at The West Hants High Performance Tennis Academy, with a tennis scholarship for Talbot Heath Girls School in Bournemouth, where she will start her intensive training and education in September.
