What an exciting week it has been for all ages this week.
In Pre-School children have created characters and written stories including them, giving them all amazing personalities.
Reception pupils have worked so hard that they have been given a new book to take home that they get to keep and have made beautiful bookmarks to go with it. Here is a photo of Eli, Poppy, Monty and Drift holding their books and bookmarks.
Year 1 have started learning about harvest and are learning about Jewish festivals. They particularly liked learning about the different foods eaten!
Year 2 are still very caught up in the dragon eggs saga. This week the eggs have disappeared and strange music is appearing in the corridor and odd noises happen in the middle of lessons. One thought among the children is that the mummy dragons may still be around hunting for their eggs. We are eagerly awaiting to see whether the eggs (or maybe dragon hatchlings return soon!).
Year 3 have been most excited about the number of them that have had birthdays recently! I hope that they all had fantastic days and enjoyed all of their celebrations. In school, Mrs Bales was delighted with the group work and cooperation on display when they looked at magnets and completed experiments.
Year 4 are so glad to be back together and have started really well on the sports field and pitches. We are looking forward to hopefully seeing them develop as a team over the next few years!
When I asked Years 5 and 6 what their highlight was, most agreed that they couldn’t wait to start on their DT projects. I visited Year 5 in their lesson and saw the beginning of their clock making. I am looking forward to seeing the finished products.
PUPIL FOCUS
Each week I would like to focus on achievements and progress of one pupil. This week I interviewed Amelia in Year 6.
PUPIL FOCUS on: Amelia Carter McGregor
Amelia is a keen footballer, having played football for a few years for Cornwall. This summer she was selected to attend regional trial and is now a member of the South West under 10 Boys’ football team, and was one of only two girls selected. Amelia has to train for 90 minutes once or twice a week for the regional squad and 90 minutes once a week for her local team. Despite this Amelia keeps up with her homework and says that she manages this by completing some on the bus and makes sure that she also does a little every night. She has really enjoyed returning to school and says she is having lots of fun and it is great seeing her friends again (although apparently it is a little tiring!). Amelia is a keen and enthusiastic worker and I look forward to see her playing football for England one day!
This week the awards go to:
Preschool - Beauden Smith for his enthusiastic approach to school and learning.

Plymouth Cricket Club U11
Freddie Lown (Year 4) spent the summer playing cricket for Plymouth Cricket Club U11’s (Peverell) cricket team. This was his first year playing hard ball cricket and he loved every minute. Freddie performed well in batting and bowling, and was quick in the field taking some great catches. Freddie was awarded Player of the Year. We are extremely proud of him.
Well done to all the pupils for working so hard again. I am looking forward to seeing you all again next week. Have a lovely weekend.
Regards,
Miss J. Newnham
