Plymouth College Preparatory School is holding an Open Week Monday 6 to Friday 10 June. Visitors can call in any time between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and see the school in action on a normal day. During the visit they will be taken on a tour as well as meet the Headmaster and other teachers.
The Prep is a co-ed day school for rising 3s to 11 year olds. Combining a healthy balance of high-quality academic study and a broad range of fun activities, the school also offers a bus service and free aftercare – early education funding is available for three and four year olds.
The Millfields-based school boasts specialist rooms for science, ICT, art, music and design technology. It has spacious classrooms, a theatre, purpose-built sports hall and a chapel. The latest addition to facilities is an outdoor classroom where the Early Years children can start to understand how the world works, using self-selected resources to create dens and build water systems. There is also an outdoor arena allowing the children to get used to speaking in public and develop an awareness of audience.
“Our aim is to provide a safe and happy environment in which our pupils can reach their full potential whatever their strengths,” said Headmaster, Chris Gatherer. “From day one all our children are very much a part of our school community and the younger children interact with the older pupils on a daily basis at assemblies, break times or during whole school activities. This is part of the process of developing social skills, building confidence and is the perfect preparation for helping them to prepare for the next steps of their education.
“When our pupils’ education journey with us comes to an end, we want them to take with them a real spirit of enquiry in all that they do; to have an enthusiasm for learning and the resilience to never give up trying.”
