Plymouth College Preparatory School pupil, Abagael Black, 11, has won the national U11 girls’ IAPS Fencing Championships for the second year running. Competing against some of the top young fencers in the country, Abagael took the title in a convincing 10-0 win in the final.
Abagael’s IAPS success comes close on the heels of claiming 3rd place in the U12 British Youth Fencing Championships. The competition was held over three days at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
“We are delighted with Abagael’s success in these two prestigious competitions,” said Plymouth College Preparatory School Headmaster, Chris Gatherer. “She works really hard in all that she does and is a great ambassador for the school.
“I’m sure there will be a lot more to come from her when she joins the Senior School in September, where she will be able to continue her fencing as part of the Plymouth College Modern Pentathlon and Fencing Academy.”
